Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso is one of a number of Formula 1 drivers you could potentially spot driving around the streets of Monaco during the off-season.

As well as Fernando Alonso, the likes of Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen and Lando Norris all live in the principality.

Not only does it host the Monaco Grand Prix, but the majority of drivers on the Formula 1 grid also call Monte Carlo home.

Russell has a £2.2m ‘everyday car’ he uses on the narrow Monaco streets, while Lewis Hamilton has sold the majority of his collection.

Alonso has been racing in Formula 1 for more than two decades, and in that time, he’s earned enough to buy practically any car he wants.

Over the most recent winter break, he was spotted in one of the rarest supercars you can see on the roads.

Fernando Alonso spotted driving a £13m Mercedes CLK GTR in Monaco

A report from Motorsport has shared more details about one of Alonso’s most impressive cars.

The two-time world champion was spotted over Christmas driving a Mercedes CLK GTR, of which only 28 have ever been produced that are road-ready.

The CLK GTR was built for the FIA GT Championship, and the street legal version has 622 hp and can do 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds.

The V12 engine would draw the attention of anyone in Monte Carlo if Alonso put his foot down through the tunnel, and at one time, it was named the world’s most expensive production car.

It’s part of the ‘holy trinity’ alongside the Porsche 911 GT1 and McLaren F1 GTR, as the homologation standards of the GT1 championship at that time meant a street version of any car that was entered into the series needed to be produced.

It’s believed that the CLK GTR can fetch up to £13m, such is its rarity, having previously sold for closer to £1.73m when first released.

What other cars are in Fernando Alonso’s collection?

Alongside the CLK GTR, the 44-year-old Alonso has some other priceless machines at his disposal.

He’s previously been spotted driving an Aston Martin DBX S, which was delivered during the most recent winter break.

An appropriate car for Alonso to be seen in, given his current allegiances in the Formula 1 paddock.

Also during the winter break, Alonso has been seen in a Ferrari 512 TR, the evolution of the Testarossa, which previously set a world record, as per Goodwood.

Alonso has also owned a McLaren P1, Porsche 918 Spyder and a Maserati GranCabrio.

The Adrian Newey-designed Aston Martin Valkyrie was added to Alonso’s collection in 2024 and is believed to be capable of producing 1,155 bhp.

Most recently, Alonso was seen in an Audi Sport Quattro, as per Motorsport, a far more classic car than many previously seen in his collection.
