Because this World Cup was held in North America, the final featured an extended half-time show, which included an appearance from Bieber.
However, fans criticised the singer’s half-time performance at the time, suggesting his song choice did not fit the event.

Now, there is talk that Bieber is the favourite to headline the 2027 Super Bowl half-time show.
The latest instalment of the NFL showpiece is set to take place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on February 14, 2027.
The news that Bieber could be performing has been shared on social media, with one poster describing it as ‘awesome’.
However, many fans have since taken to the comment section of that post to express their displeasure at the possibility.
One wrote: “I hope not. I think he blew the FIFA halftime. I like him, but there are better choices right now. Bring Madonna back!”
A second added: “After that performance at Coachella, I really hope not… and my personal opinion, I think there’s been good performances, but nothing comes close to the 2022 Dr. Dre Super Bowl performance.”
Another tweeted: “After seeing him at the World Cup, I really hope not.”
A fourth asked: “Anybody else with a better attitude??”
“Well, hopefully it’s a bit more upbeat than the last,” stated another.
Another pleaded: “Please get someone else,” while others commented things like “That dude’s music is so depressing,” “Why don’t you get a performer that’s actually for the target audience?” and “We don’t need slow jams at the Super Bowl.”
