LeBron James is set to join the Philadelphia 76ers following his departure from the Los Angeles Lakers.

The news broke on Friday as fans across the world waited eagerly on James’ decision.

James will be looking to help the 76ers win their first ring since 1983 as he inks a two-year deal in Philadelphia.

At the age of 41, James has already played 23 years in the NBA, but remains hungry for more despite the riches he has secured over his career.

It is believed James will be earning the veteran minimum, which will see him bring home shy of $4m in 2026.

That figure is set to rise in 2027 to slightly over the $4m mark, but this is a huge salary cut from what he has earned at his previous teams.

It is that low that James is actually going to earn less than an NFL punter this season.

Last June, Dickson extended his contract in the Pacific Northwest through signing a four-year deal worth $16.2m.

That has Dickson earning just over $4m per year with the Seattle Seahawks as well as his $5m signing bonus.

If you had told someone a decade ago that James would eventually earn less than an NFL punter not many people would have believed you.

However, this just goes to show that James is playing for the love of the game given the riches he has amassed over the years in his incredible career.
