According to Sky Germany, Wolves are trying hardest to sign Liverpool target Matheus Nunes, who has already rejected West Ham.
What’s the story?
Well, Florian Plettenburg – a journalist for Sky Germany – claimed that Wolves are the side most interested in signing the Portugal international, although Liverpool are also keeping an eye on him.
Sporting Lisbon are happy to accept a bid of £30m for Nunes, who David Moyes revealed “chose not to” join West Ham after a £25m bid was sent to the Portuguese giants.
The Primeira Liga outfit also want a sell-on clause involved in any potential deal, which would entitle them to a share of the money if the 23-year-old was ever sold again in future.
Plettenburg adds that Manchester City are also involved in the race to sign Nunes, who seems to have caught the eye of many Premier League sides.
Leeds are keen to sign the Sporting Lisbon No.8 this summer, while Chelsea, Everton, Newcastle and Tottenham have all been mentioned as potential destinations as well.
Interest in Nunes comes after he made 50 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring four goals while also providing five assists.
Wolves could beat Liverpool & West Ham to something special
You only need to look at the success of Luis Diaz, and the quick start made by Darwin Nunez in England, to see that Portugal’s top-flight is a great place to buy players for the Premier League right now.
Interestingly, Nunes is probably the division’s best asset now those two have departed.

In that respect, Wolves would be getting a special player if they beat the competition to sign him.
At Molineux, the Portuguese playmaker would have a number of fellow countryman to help him settle in the Midlands, such as Ruben Neves, Daniel Podence, Pedro Neto and Bruno Lage.
In this day and age, a sum of £30m really isn’t much, so if Nunes lives up to the hype in England, Wolves could even double their money in a year or two – if they win this intriguing transfer battle.
