According to Fabrizio Romano, Paris Saint-Germain will sell Leeds target Arnaud Kalimuendo and use the money to sign Arsenal target Fabian Ruiz.

What’s the story?

Well, it was said that Jesse Marsch was keen to bring the PSG striker to Elland Road, although he is now close to signing for Rennes in a deal worth €25m (£21m).

While that is sure to be upsetting news for Leeds, it also looks set to have implications for Arsenal.

Romano believes PSG will reinvest the £21m fee into a deal for Ruiz, who Mikel Arteta was hoping to bring to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

The Napoli maestro is out of contract in the summer of 2023, and it looks as if PSG have won the race to sign him in a cut-price deal.

It comes after Ruiz rejected an approach from West Ham and David Moyes.

Newcastle were also interested in signing the Spain international, but the three Premier League sides interested in him will now have to look elsewhere.

Arsenal & Leeds have alternatives after PSG cause issues

While this is a frustrating development for both Arteta and Marsch, they do have alternatives.

In Arsenal’s case, they are now focusing on AC Milan maestro Sandro Tonali, and a deal could potentially be done as the Italian giants enter talks to sign Gunners midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga.

In regards to Leeds, Marseille striker Bamba Dieng has caught the eye of Marsch, a player who has been likened to Sadio Mane.

However, they face competition from Nottingham Forest and Celtic if they are to sign the Senegal international.

Dieng is said to be worried about his future at Marseille due to the arrival of Alexis Sanchez, so an exit certainly seems likely.

Keep an eye on both Arsenal and Leeds, as we expect them to do more business before the transfer deadline.
