Fabian Ruiz to Arsenal could be back on the cards.

In January, Arsenal were linked with a move to sign the Spain international and considering Newcastle United had a £42 million offer rejected by Napoli [CDS], you could say he was a bit on the expensive side.

However, the 26-year-old only has a year to run on his existing deal in Naples.

And now Corriere Dello Sport claim that the Serie A outfit will not be accepting anything under £25.8 million for their midfielder.

The report has added that Arsenal are winning the race to bring him to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Fabian Ruiz to Arsenal

Fabian Ruiz to Arsenal might indicate that Granit Xhaka is leaving North London.

There hasn’t been a huge amount of speculation regarding the Switzerland international – well, not compared to last summer – but earlier in June it was reported that Jose Mourinho of Roma was still keen on the Gunners midfielder, after the transfer saga of 12 months ago.

And with Ruiz and Xhaka being similar midfielders, well it makes little sense to have both in Mikel Arteta’s squad, particularly with Thomas Partey already there and Fabio Vieira being announced on Tuesday in a £34 million deal.

It remains to be seen how legitimate the Ruiz speculation is but if it’s true, it could and probably does indicate that Xhaka will be off.
