Jose Enrique has said that despite Martin Odegaard enjoying a sensational season with Arsenal, he should not be compared to Kevin De Bruyne, who starred for Man City in their 3-1 win at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.
The £30 million (Sky Sports) man has been regarded as the most in-form midfielder in the Premier League this season by many, garnering praise from the likes of Erling Haaland, Jamie Carragher and Cesc Fabregas.
In fact, Jose Enrique once claimed that he would rather sign Martin Odegaard over Kevin De Bruyne as well.

However, that opinion may well have stemmed from the difference in ages between perhaps the two most in-form attacking midfielders in the league.
But Jose Enrique took to Twitter after Man City defeated Arsenal to say, “Stop comparing him [Kevin De Bruyne] to [Martin] Odegaard or anyone. He is on another level to everyone else in the Premier league.”
He added, “Odegaard is a world-class player but still [has] a lot to prove. This guy has been world-class for many years.”

There is no disputing that the Gunners captain is certainly in conversation to be regarded as the league’s best midfielder based on the ongoing campaign.
However, the praise for Martin Odegaard has blinded many to the fact that Kevin De Bruyne has only been off the boil since the World Cup, and remains on course to break the division’s all-time assist record this season, as implied by Jose Enrique.
Furthermore, claims that discredit the heights the Belgian international has hit over more than half a decade whilst waxing lyrical about the ex-Real Madrid attacker have been examples of recency bias at its absolute worst, which is why this very opinion is bang on the money.
