Jose Enrique has made the bold claim that he would rather sign Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard over Man City legend Kevin De Bruyne.
The former Liverpool left-back’s opinion is controversial to say the least, as while the Gunners midfielder has been brilliant this season, the latter is arguably the greatest midfielder in Premier League history.
However, it seems as Jose Enrique seems to be siding towards signing Martin Odegaard than Kevin De Bruyne.
This season, both midfielders are neck-and-neck in terms of their goal contributions in the league this season.
While the Norwegian has registered 8 goals and 5 assists, the Belgian has 3 goals and 10 assists, as per the official website.
With 13 goal involvements each, it is widely accepted that both the Arsenal and Man City creators are the two most in-form midfielders in the country.
Post World-Cup, Jose Enrique would be right in siding with Martin Odegaard instead of the 4-time Premier League champion.
While the £85,000-a-week star has led Mikel Arteta’s side from the front and grown from strength to strength, the latter’s form has been questionable.
However, during the first half of the season, De Bruyne was perhaps having a superior campaign, as he remains the top assister in Europe’s top 5 leagues (16 in all competitions).
Jose Enrique explains why he’d rather sign Martin Odegaard over Kevin De Bruyne

Jose Enrique has said that he would rather sign Martin Odegaard over Kevin De Bruyne, on Twitter.
It will be [Martin] Odegaard because of the age, but KDB [Kevin De Bruyne] been on [a] different level for many years”, Jose Enrique said.
With the Arsenal captain being 7 years younger than the Man City vice-captain, it would make sense to sign him instead of the ageing superstar currently.
However, as Jose Enrique suggests in general, the ex-VFL Wolfsburg midfielder has to be picked instead of Martin Odegaard, due to his sustained excellence for almost a decade.
