- EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
Eyebrows were raised when Norwich City left Jonathan Rowe out of their squad entirely for their Championship opener.
The Canaries suffered a dismal start to their league campaign with a 2-0 defeat to Oxford United on Saturday afternoon.
Manager Johannes Hoff Thorup left Jonathan Rowe out of his matchday squad, sparking questions about the 21-year-old’s future at Carrow Road.
As revealed by HITC, Leeds United have tabled a bid for Rowe, but they are facing competition from Marseille for his signature.
Despite conflicting reports, HITC understands that the 21-year-old was fully available to feature in their opening game.
However, Thorup and Norwich City‘s hierarchy deemed that it was better not to include Rowe in the game amid ongoing transfer interest.

Leeds United continue Jonathan Rowe pursuit
Rowe being left out of Norwich’s squad is the latest sign that his future is up in the air.
Neither Leeds United nor Marseille were able to agree terms over a deal after bidding just shy of £10million.
HITC understands both Leeds and Marseille remain keen on Rowe and will continue to explore solutions to get a deal over the line.
The Yorkshire club are on the search for a replacement for Crysencio Summerville after last season’s Championship Player of the Year made a move to West Ham.
Norwich have named a starting price of £15million for Rowe as Leeds and Marseille continue their pursuit.
Jonathan Rowe latest
Until a deal is agreed, Rowe is ready to play for Norwich City. The Canaries are back in action on Tuesday night when they face Stevenage in the League Cup.

Sources have confirmed that Rowe has never asked to leave Carrow Road this summer and will continue to make himself available for Thorup.
The decision to leave him out against Oxford stemmed entirely from the club’s staff and hierarchy.
