Leeds United are keen on an Austrian midfielder this summer and the selling club’s chief has commented on the club’s interest.
Daniel Farke’s Leeds United side failed to achieve promotion back to the Premier League after a tight 1-0 defeat to Southampton thanks to an Adam Armstrong goal.
As a result, sales have been key with Archie Gray departing the club for Tottenham Hotspur but the teenage midfielder is set to leave a big gap in the middle of the park that the Yorkshire side will have to fill.
Gray was one of Leeds’ best players last season and he will be sorely missed but it seems The Whites are closing in on a relationship.

Cologne chief comments on Dejan Ljubicic to Leeds
One player attracting interest from those at Elland Road is Cologne midfielder Dejan Ljubicic with the Austrian midfielder sounded out as an option.
Leeds brought in Joe Rodon back on a permanent deal after the Welsh defender spent the previous campaign on loan at Elland Road from Tottenham.
Another incoming is Sheffield United right-back Jayden Bogle but it is the midfield areas that they will be focusing on next and Ljubicic is the man they’re targeting.
FC Cologne’s ‘head of first-team football’ Thomas Kessler has been asked about the Austrian but he doesn’t seem concerned.
“I’m not afraid that Dejo will leave the club,” Kessler told KSTA.de. “We have even built an Austrian coaching team for him so that he will lack nothing here, so I firmly believe that he will remain our player.”
Leeds had seen Ljubicic offer rejected
The Whites had made a £3.3 million offer last week, an amount which FC Cologne dismissed, and it was stated if Leeds United still wanted to sign the midfielder then a ‘mega offer’ would be needed.
If Leeds did bring the Austrian into the club then he would have a national team friend in defender Maximilian Wober.
Wober’s own future in Yorkshire is unclear with Borussia Monchengladbach reportedly turning their attentions away from the Austrian after Leeds demanded over £10 million for the defender.
