Joe Brady has made it clear that his priorities as Buffalo Bills head coach are firmly tied to Josh Allen rather than personal ambition.

Buffalo Bills head coach Joe Brady has spoken openly about the depth of his relationship with quarterback Josh Allen and the role it has played in his own career progression.

Brady addressed how closely his development as a coach has been linked to Allen’s growth as a player. The comments came during a wide-ranging interview in which Brady reflected on trust, accountability, and responsibility.

Joe Brady explains relationship with Josh Allen

Speaking to SiriusXM’s NFL Radio, Joe Brady described Josh Allen as central to his journey and acknowledged that the partnership has not always been straightforward.

He explained that coaching Allen has shaped him professionally and credited the quarterback with elevating decisions that might otherwise have failed.

“He’s been just as critical for me. I’ve grown so much as a coach by coaching him, and our relationship is continuing to grow. It’s not always perfect. We have tough conversations, and get on each other.“

“But it’s a relationship that understands that we both have each other’s trust and respect. He knows I care about his success more than my own. He wants to be coached hard, and he knows that he makes a lot of my bad play calls work.”

The remarks outlined a dynamic where accountability runs both ways and where Brady views Allen as a stabilising force.

Brady prioritises Allen’s success over his own

Joe Brady went on to acknowledge moments where Josh Allen’s instincts have overridden play design and produced positive outcomes.

He said that perspective has influenced how he evaluates his own performance. He also framed his role as head coach as inseparable from the opportunity to work with Allen.

“I’m understanding of that, too. Once in a while, there will be a play-call that I wish he would just make the easy completion. I try to get mad and then I realize it was a bad play-call, and he bailed me out, too.“

“I love that man. I’m only in this role because I had an opportunity to coach him, and I understand that. I don’t take that lightly. But I want him to get everything that he deserves as a player.”

The comments positioned Allen as the focal point of Brady’s leadership as Buffalo begins a new chapter under their head coach.
