Manchester City have already pulled off one of the signings of the summer in Erling Haaland, but now according to reports, Pep Guardiola wants to add Kalvin Phillips to the Premier League champions’ ranks.

According to the Telegraph, the Manchester giants are plotting a move for the Leeds United dynamo, with the England international valued at £60m and being viewed by those at City as a replacement for departing club captain Fernandinho.

However, as per the report, City first want to offload some players with the squad slowly reaching ridiculous levels of bloated, a venture which could see five-time Premier League winners recoup as much as £200m this summer.

With some big names at City already being linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium, who could realistically leave the blue half of Manchester this summer as Guardiola looks to make Phillips his second major signing of the transfer window.

With Ederson Moraes, Zack Steffen and club legend Scott Carson already on Manchester City’s books, 20-year-old talent Gavin Bazunu will simply not play first-team football with the Premier League side barring a momentous event.

Indeed, with the 10-cap Republic of Ireland international, who was hailed as ‘unbelievable’ last season for both club and country, already attracting Premier League interest, Bazunu could easily win a permanent move this summer, with City able to command a decent fee for the youngster.

Nathan Ake has been something of an enigma at Manchester City. The former AFC Bournemouth defender is clearly a talented player, however, his quality is perhaps not that of a top-three Premier League side, despite his impressive performances last season.

With reported interest this summer, Ake could contribute significantly to City’s fund to sign Phillips, with the defender, just like Bazunu, able to fetch a pretty penny if the Manchester side can handle negotiations correctly for the centre-back’s sale.

Oleksandr Zinchenko

Oleksandr Zinchenko finds him almost in a similar boat as Ake, with the Ukrainian international an outstanding player in his own right but perhaps not quite up to being a regular for the best of the best in England

Able to play at fullback and central midfield, Zinchenko could be an outstanding utility player for many top sides in Europe, with Arsenal reportedly interested in signing the City star this summer as Mikel Arteta looks to his former side for potential summer arrivals.

Yangel Herrera

Yangel Herrera was once viewed by many Manchester City fans as a potential heir to Fernandinho at the club. Strong, adaptable and able to play numerous roles in the midfield, the Venezuelan maestro seemingly has the entire package needed to flourish under Guardiola.

However, according to reports, City will be cashing on the South American this summer, with Herrera likely to depart England without playing a single professional minute for the club, with Phillips an obvious upgrade on the midfielder for next season.

Gabriel Jesus

If Manchester City are to land a big fee this summer from any player, Gabriel Jesus will likely be that name, with the £46m-rated striker wanted by the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Real Madrid as the Brazilian inches closer to an exit.

Indeed, Jesus has been a crucial part of City’s recent history, but with Haaland set to lead the line next season and Guardiola seemingly having big plans for Julian Alvarez, the 25-year-old attacker is better off leaving for regular football elsewhere either in England or on the continent.
