Jermaine Jenas was keen to praise a Liverpool ace who demonstrated ‘unbelievable’ piece of skill during the win over Ipswich Town.
Arne Slot’s Liverpool have had a frustrating summer transfer window with the Reds yet to add to their first team under the Dutchman who took the reins at Anfield from Jurgen Klopp this summer.
Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi turned down Liverpool’s approach and the Reds have failed to improve their team at all under a new manager.
However, Liverpool kicked off their Premier League season with a 2-0 win over promoted Ipswich Town and the Reds flexed their muscles to record a victory over Kieran McKenna’s side.

Jermaine Jenas hails Dominik Szoboszlai
During the second half of Liverpool’s victory over Ipswich, the Reds were dominant during the victory over the East Anglian side.
Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah scored the goals as Slot’s reign as Liverpool head coach began with a hard-fought victory over newly promoted Ipswich Town at a boisterous Portman Road.
During the second half of Liverpool’s victory, Dominik Szobszlai had an impressive second half for the Reds as the club kicked off with a win.
The Hungarian midfielder, in particular, was fantastic for Slot’s men and Jermaine Jenas, speaking on TNT Sports coverage of the game, was full of praise for the Liverpool ace.
“That bit of play there (Szoboszlai did a Cruyff turn on the halfway line) was unbelievable,” Jenas said.
It will be vital that Liverpool’s midfielders have a good season, particularly with the Reds missing out on Zubimendi.
Liverpool’s midfielders need to perform
The signing of Zubimendi would have been the anchor that the side needed but if the Reds fail to bring in an alternative, their current midfield options will have to suffice.
Academy sensation Trey Nyoni has made a breakthrough for Liverpool this summer and the former Leicester City prospect could well be in for chances under the Dutchman.
As well as Nyoni, Liverpool will have Wataru Endo, who signed for the club last season, with Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch as their midfield options with Szoboszlai also the attacking option for the Reds.
