The 2026 MLB trade deadline is nearly upon us, arriving on August 3 at 6pm ET.

A lot could happen in the next six or so days, and one man who continues to be mooted for a move is Tarik Skubal.

Skubal’s contract with the Detroit Tigers is up in 2026, which could see him become one of the hottest free agents in the sport from November.

Now, Jeff Passan has suggested a trade that could see the Tigers star end up at the LA Dodgers.

Tarik Skubal joining LA Dodgers in exchange for three players mooted

As per SleeperDodgers on X/Twitter, Passan suggested the Tigers secure Emmet Sheehan, Zyhir Hope and Aidan West.

In exchange for the trio, the LA Dodgers would acquire only Skubal.

On the trade, Passan admitted: “It’s a wild overpay, but the possibility of three straight rings calls for that.”

A number of fans have since taken to the comment section to react to the potential trade.

One wrote: “They should do it as a lifelong Dodger fan, I can’t assume Ohtani will be 100 percent pitching wise when it comes to October given uncertainty on his knee injury.”

Another tweeted: “Need to stop letting them get draft picks if they insist on overpaying and driving up salaries, bidding against themselves. Then use their farm to overpay in trades as well.”

“That’s a good value trade for Tigers. Dodgers get a rental to make a serious run at a three-peat,” added a third.

A fourth even claimed: “We could give Emmett Sheehan, River Ryan, Aiden West, Alex Call, Ryan Ward, James Tibbs, Charles Davalan, Bobby Miller, and Gavin Stone (who I love) without affecting organizational depth at all. Let the Tigers choose their own adventure.”
