Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, Tyrese Haliburton, and Trae Young all made appearances at WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event hosted at MSG.
With the Fanatics Fest in the background, WWE hosted a special edition of the iconic Saturday Night’s Main Event at MSG.
With MSG being the heart of basketball this summer after the New York Knicks’ championship win, multiple NBA stars became a part of the action.
Jalen Brunson’s inclusion leads to storylines with Tyrese Haliburton and Trae Young
Multiple Eastern Conference point guards featured, with Brunson’s involvement coming alongside WWE Champion Roman Reigns. Tyrese Haliburton was allied with Reigns’ rival Seth Rollins, with the two NBA stars having a face-off before a sneak attack from Rollins on Reigns.
Trae Young’s appearance was also linked to Brunson, as the former Atlanta Hawks guard appeared to tear a Jalen Brunson jersey in front of booing fans.
Young was widely considered the villain of New York basketball with his performances when he was on the Hawks, but with him now on the Wizards and the Knicks winning the title, that rivalry feels a little flat.

Haliburton’s Pacers are the last team to have eliminated the Knicks from the Playoffs, with their win coming in the 2025 Eastern Conference Finals.
Haliburton missed all of last season with a torn Achilles, so the pair will definitely resume their point guard rivalry next season.
Karl-Anthony Towns gets involved in WWE action, unlike Jalen Brunson
We didn’t see Brunson engage in anything physical, but the same can’t be said about his All-Star teammate Karl-Anthony Towns.
Towns appeared alongside Danhausen, who became a New York legend for cursing New York’s Playoff opponents during their run. Towns would deliver two chokeslams, with one through a table.
With many of the modern generation of NBA players growing up as WWE fans, their notoriety as players allows them to engage with the sport as characters and live out their dreams.
Haliburton and Brunson have been long-time fans and have made previous appearances as well. The same applies to Young.
NBA players can maximize their offseason like this, but their battles will soon become real again once they see each other on the court as rivals in the Eastern Conference next season.
