Jake Paul might be eyeing a major career transition, as he pivots from the boxing ring to the NFL gridiron.

Paul is perhaps the most polarizing figure in all of sports today. And he has managed to translate his notorious reputation into a lucrative career as one of the biggest draws in combat sports today.

But after a crushing defeat to Anthony Joshua in December, could Paul be leaving behind his gloves for a helmet and some shoulder pads?

Jake Paul reveals he has been in contact with multiple NFL teams

Speaking to Front Office Sports, Jake Paul revealed that he has had conversations with multiple NFL teams and coaches about possibly transitioning to the NFL.

Paul then took a dig at a large number of NFL players, suggesting that he is a better athlete than them, and that he would pursue an NFL career once he wraps up his boxing career.

“It’s pretty simple. Just like when I started boxing, it’s funny to see the Tweet-and-deleters out there, the non-believers, the non-sayers, shoutout to Drake.

“I think there is a lot of super-mediocrity in the NFL, a lot of not-good athletes, a lot of people dropping passes on a consistent basis.

“I have better hands than them, I’m faster than them, I’m stronger than them, I work harder than them. Really, all it is going to take is just me after boxing, practicing some routes.

“I have a couple of teams and coaches that I have talked to that are interested in bringing me on to the team. It’s really going to be quite easy.”

When asked which team in the NFL he would want to play for, Paul claimed that he wanted to represent his hometown team, the Cleveland Browns.

“I’d love to go to the Cleveland Browns, I’ve been a Browns fan my whole entire life. My mom is a die-hard Browns fan and I think they could use some good receivers over there. Reserve the #17 Browns jersey right now, thank you.”

Paul grew up in Cleveland, so his desire to play for the Browns makes sense, especially considering their lack of success over the last two decades.

It appears Paul is trying to transition from combat sports to football, something Brock Lesnar attempted in 2004 when he left the WWE.

Lesnar managed to make it to the Minnesota Vikings practice squad before being cut, but the University of Minnesota standout had some prior high school football experience to justify the endeavor.

Paul does not have the same football experience, nor the explosive athleticism that Lesnar did, so he might find this transition a lot tougher.
