Jack Wilshere has been speaking to talkSPORT about Arsenal, discussing a range of topics from Mikel Arteta’s management to Alexandre Lacazette.
Specifically, his comments on the latter were interesting.
What did Jack Wilshere say?
Well, as quoted by talkSPORT, the 29-year-old revealed that he loved playing with Lacazette during his time at the Emirates Stadium.
Wilshere said: “I loved playing with Laca and he’s a really intelligent player, but maybe they need a squad player who can get them some more goals.”
Interestingly, he adds a but – clearly, Lacazette’s 17 goals in the 2020/21 campaign weren’t enough for Wilshere.
In fairness, he has a point, and he obviously wasn’t criticising Lacazette.
It seems Wilshere feels Arsenal need an extra source of goals, so that the 16-cap France international’s effort can actually be worth something.
Having said that, it seems as if Arsenal think they need a change altogether.
Arsenal want to sell Alexandre Lacazette

As covered by us recently, Mikel Arteta is trying to sell the 30-year-old.
Journalist Ian McGarry told The Transfer Window Podcast that Lacazette has been marketed ‘very aggressively’ by Arsenal, all across Europe.
Additionally, The Athletic revealed that Arsenal have tried to include their No.9 as part of negotiations to sign Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez.

Clearly – as Wilshere’s comments, and the 17 goal haul, reinforce – Lacazette is a good player.
However, with his thirties already underway, it seems as if Arsenal want to freshen up their squad, with the ex-Lyon man a potential fall guy.
There’s nothing wrong with that, but if Arsenal then fail to replace his 17 goals, then things could get even worse in the 2021/22 campaign.
