Life has turned on its head for Aaron Ramsdale at Arsenal and he is now number two behind last summer’s arrival David Raya.

It’s something the demoted Arsenal number one should be used to because he has been a bench player with England for several years now.

At Arsenal, you can have a debate about whether Mikel Arteta should have signed a player like Raya, but it happened and the team improved, before missing out on the Premier League title on the last day of the season.

No Upcoming Fixtures

But on the international stage, and at Euro 2024, you can’t really argue because Jordan Pickford has been a strong performer for England since 2018 and his starting spot shouldn’t be questioned.

That was proven on Saturday when England beat Switzerland on penalties to reach the semi-finals of Euro 2024.

After the game, players left, right and centre, mainly the ones who have played, are posting on social media their delight at the win.

Those who are unused subs, or in Ramsdale’s case, he knows he isn’t playing at all, don’t usually post anything on their socials.

But Arsenal’s stopper took to Instagram to state that you ‘live for these moments’ as he is seen picking up Bukayo Saka during England’s celebrations against the Swiss.

Usually, it’s players like this who keep the group going and bring that energy to the side.

And Jack Grealish, who was left out of Gareth Southgate’s England squad, responded in the comments section at how Ramsdale is ‘one of the best’.

This is a player who doesn’t sulk or feel let down at not playing. Yes, he wants those minutes, but you can’t ask for a better teammate in moments like this because he is as supportive as anyone else and always has a big smile on his face.

Jack Grealish praises Aaron Ramsdale at Euro 2024

‘What a guy,’ wrote Grealish in the comments section of Ramsdale’s IG post. ‘One of the best you, son’.

Jude Bellingham sent heart emojis to the player, with Saka simply posting ‘yaaa’.

Will Aaron Ramsdale leave Arsenal?

You will be surprised if he isn’t out of the door because a man of his quality simply can’t remain on the bench.

It’s pretty clear that Raya is now number one and it will remain that way. His permanent transfer from Brentford was confirmed recently.

It’s now a case of where Ramsdale will go next. There has been talk of Chelsea wanting to bring him in, but everything seems quiet, at the moment.

And Newcastle United, who have another England goalkeeper in Nick Pope in their squad, were also talked about, but once again, nothing yet.

You feel everything will come to life once Euro 2024 is over because that tournament, as well as Copa America, seems to be stalling everything, at the moment.
