Kevin Campbell told the Highbury Squad that he would be ‘happy’ if Arsenal signed James Ward-Prowse from Southampton.
The Gunners are looking to bolster their midfield this summer and they have been touted to sign the likes of James Maddison.
Whilst the Leicester man is more attack-minded than Ward-Prowse, other players have also been linked such as Yves Bissouma.
Albert Lokonga may have already worked through their doors as a young prospect from Belgium, but it’s clear Mikel Arteta wants changes to his midfield.
And when the talk of signing Ward-Prowse was put on the table, club legend, Campbell, was all for it.
“If Arsenal put in a bid for James Ward Prowse and he was coming to Arsenal then I would be happy,” said Campbell.
“I would be happy. He is a worker. He’s consistent and his deliveries at set-pieces make a difference. And he’s an ever-present.”

Well, Ward-Prowse is someone who is already been linked with other Premier League clubs this summer because Aston Villa have been looking at his talents.
The Southampton academy product was unlucky to miss out on England’s 26-man for Euro 2020, but it’s still evident that his talents are there for all to see.
The obvious quality he has is his abilities from dead-ball situations, whether it’s direct free-kicks or pin-point corners.
Added with that, Ward-Prowse has the legs, positional sense and intelligence to play in a two-man midfield if teams want to revert from their usual three.
Without the ball, the England international is aggressive in his pressing and has a brilliant quality to turnover possession.
He would no doubt be a brilliant signing for Arsenal, but it does seem as though they are looking in other courts for talented players in that department.
