Kieran Gibbs has stated that he doesn’t want to see Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane secure a summer transfer to Bayern Munich.

The former Arsenal player added that Harry Kane would transform ‘any team’ in the world and that he is a ‘big fan’ of his former England teammate and club rival.

The 29-year-old will have 12 months left to run on his contract in the summer and there has been a lot of talk about his future.

Will Daniel Levy persuade his star man to sign a new contract? Be forced to sell him in the summer? Or risk losing him for nothing in 2024? All in all, it’s up in the air – Brighton’s Evan Ferguson has emerged as a possible replacement for Kane in north London.

During his days in the Premier League, Gibbs would have faced the early years of Kane, as he spoke about his future and those Bayern links, as he told ESPN.

“I just wouldn’t want to see it (Kane to Bayern),” said Gibbs. “I am a big Harry Kane fan.

“He is going to transform any team he goes to, at the end of the day. He’s got accolades that he probably wants to achieve in the UK game. He’s an English boy. He’s going to be a Premier League great.

“We want to see him in the Premier League. I want to see him in the Premier League. If he goes to Bayern, he’s going to play in the Champions League and he will get far in the Champions League.

“But, for 60% for the rest of the season, he’s going to be playing in games that we aren’t going to be able to see him as much. I think the Premier League is where he wants to be. I would like to see him stay. I would like to see him at Manchester United, to be honest.”

HOW WILL LEVY REACT?

The issue for Spurs fans is that nobody knows who is going to be the club’s coach for next season.

It’s a bit of a mess and it doesn’t help matters in trying to keep Kane on board – Manchester United are reportedly preparing an offer.

It has been suggested that Burnley’s Premier League promotion-winning boss, Vincent Kompany, is the first choice, whilst he was a big name as a player, can he do enough to persuade Kane to stay, if he were to be appointed?
