Darren Ambrose has admitted that West Ham United captain Declan Rice is going to be ‘perfect’ for Arsenal.

The former Premier League midfielder, who is a boyhood Tottenham fan, admitted that he ‘doesn’t want’ the transfer to happen, but added that Declan Rice has ‘all the attributes’ in his locker other than scoring goals, as he told talkSPORT.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are looking to improve their midfield this summer and they have made the Hammers captain their number one target.

But as is the norm with these transfers, they don’t get done that easily, especially when there is talk that the Hammers want north of £100 million for their captain.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if this transfer drags into next month and beyond, especially with suggestions that Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are also keen on the player.

Either way, Ambrose, when trying to take his Spurs hat off, is backing Rice to make a switch to Arsenal and how he will fair well under Arteta.

“When you are in the England squad, like Declan Rice is now, I know they have just won a European trophy or James Maddison,” said Ambrose.

“You will hear people talking about Champions League football and Europa League football. You want to be a part of that.

“When clubs bid for you and they are Champions League or Europa League football, then it’s only natural you are going to look to get out of the club you are currently in.

“I don’t want it to happen being a Spurs supporter (Rice joining Arsenal) because he will improve Arsenal going forward and they went toe-to-toe with Man City, so to improve that team, you have to be one hell of a player and he certainly is. I think that’s the perfect move for him. He has every attribute to be a top, top midfielder, other than goals.”

Is Rice worth £100m?

Not many are questioning whether Rice is ready to take that next step in his career and play for a club in the Champions League because he is more than ready.

The only issue with his possible transfer is how much he is worth. If he moves for £100 million, then just like Jack Grealish a few seasons ago, every move Rice makes will be scrutinised.

Given that he is a Premier League player and English, then many think it comes with its added tax, but at the end of the day, West Ham have every right to demand a stupid amount for their player because of how difficult it’s going to be to replace him.
