Jose Enrique has stated on his Instagram story that the agent of Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Leandro Trossard is making the player ‘look bad’ given the winger’s stand-off with Brighton and Hove Albion.
The former Liverpool left-back added that there is ‘no need’ for Trossard’s agent – Josy Comhair – to publicly state that his client wants to leave the Amex Stadium during the January transfer window.
Whilst Brighton could trigger Trossard’s current contract by an extra 12 months, he is, as things stand, free to leave the club for nothing in the summer.

But it seems as though the 28-year-old doesn’t want to wait that long and, as his agent echoed to BBC Sport, he wants to leave right now, especially given that he has had a falling out with Brighton manager, Roberto De Zerbi.
Well, given the player’s current situation, where he’s not even training, Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur are keen to take the £15 million star on board.
But whilst there is a negative vibe around the sought-after forward, Enrique thinks his own agent is playing a part in it all.
“Why did they make a statement,” questioned Enrique. “You don’t need to if you want to leave the club, anyway. That makes the player look bad when there is no need.
“I sometimes don’t understand how agents work.”

TROSSARD IS NOT THE ANSWER TO TOTTENHAM’S PROBLEMS
Tottenham fans already knew they had major issues with the team before the north London derby on Sunday, it’s just that their blood level pressures would have gone up a few notches after losing to Arsenal.
From starting off slow, midfield being overrun, a goalkeeper well past it and defenders just not good enough, there are bigger problems than the attack.
Harry Kane will continue to ball, whilst Dejan Kulusevski can’t regain his full sharpness quickly enough. The attack isn’t the problem, therefore, there is no point splashing the cash on Trossard.
Plus, it’s not like Spurs are throwing money in a crazy fashion like Chelsea that they can purchase who they want, defenders are needed, first and foremost, including a new goalkeeper.
