Jose Enrique has stated that he will start to ‘believe’ that Liverpool will sign Manu Kone if a deal for Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister goes through.

The former Liverpool left-back was reacting to an Instagram post that stated Manu Kone was ‘dressed in a Liverpool kit’ during his trial for Paris FC and the Reds are his ‘favourite club’.

Well, given that Jurgen Klopp’s side are keen on the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder, then it possibly makes things easier for them when knocking on the German club’s doors.

But, before all of that could happen, Liverpool need to get a deal for Mac Allister over the line – it could be done by this week, with a medical penned in for Wednesday 7 June.

Yes, the fans wanted Real Madrid-bound Jude Bellingham, but for one reason or another, a deal couldn’t get done.

And, as Enrique stated, if the first one is confirmed, then ‘we all will start believing’ that Kone can also be added.

“Let’s wait and see if we confirm the first one (Mac Allister),” said Enrique. “And then I believe, we all will start believing, that something is happening (with Kone).”

KONE WOULD BE A SMART PURCHASE

This is what Liverpool have always done well. From Gini Wijnalum to Andy Robertson. They don’t go for the proven stars, but those that are under the radar.

Interestingly enough, when the news that Jude Bellingham won’t be going to Liverpool broke in April, former Premier League goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer suggested that the Reds sign Kone, who he said was going ‘under the radar’ and someone who is doing a ‘phenomenal’ job in the Bundesliga.

Well, that might now be coming true as Kone and Mac Allister could be Liverpool players by the time the summer transfer window officially opens in July.
