Frank Leboeuf says Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister is the ‘perfect’ fit for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool ahead of an expected transfer.

The former World Cup-winning star added that Liverpool are signing a player that is the ‘image’ of what has made the club so great during these past few years, as he told ESPN.

From winning the European Cup to Premier League title glory, the Reds have won the lot under Klopp, but they now need picking up and it seems as though it will start with the capture of Alexis Mac Allister.

The 24-year-old has had a season to remember, both at club and international level.

From winning the World Cup in Qatar in the colours of Argentina to helping Brighton reach Europe for the first time in their history – a medical has been booked for the all-action midfielder ahead of signing for Liverpool.

This is probably the start of a few more faces that the Merseyside club will bring in, with France legend Leboeuf liking this first move.

“They needed it,” said Leboeuf. “They have been struggling in the middle of the park and he is a perfect fit.

“The guy is a very good player. He knows what you need from a midfielder. He knows how to defend, how to get the ball back, how to serve the guy in front and how to go forward to score goals.

“For Liverpool, Mac Allister is the guy is the image of what the club needs and the image of what the club was a couple of years ago when they were going forward fast and effectively. It’s the perfect fit.”

MAC ALLISTER WILL BRING ENERGY TO LIVERPOOL

A typical Klopp player, the most important thing here is that Mac Allister suits the German’s style of play more than if he joined Chelsea, Arsenal or Manchester United.

The energy he will bring to the club’s midfield is very much needed and he will also help elevate current stars that are struggling within the team.

Players like Fabinho have fallen off a cliff this season, but the prospect of the hard-hitting Brazil midfielder partnering alongside Mac Allister is one the Anfield faithful should be looking forward to.
