The Jacksonville Jaguars showed some significant signs of improvement last season under head coach Liam Coen.

Although the Jaguars were eliminated in the wild card round, securing top spot in the AFC South with a 13-4 record shocked a lot of people around the league.

There will be a lot of optimism ahead of the new season in Jacksonville, with players like Travis Hunter expected to take another step forward in his sophomore year.

Hunter was selected by Jacksonville with the second overall pick in last year’s draft.

It has been a big summer for the dual-action player, who has bulked up considerably during the offseason.

However, don’t let his improved stature fool you, Hunter has only got faster since last season and is rivalling the likes of Tyreek Hill as one of the fastest players in the league.

Hunter joined the league as no slouch, despite opting out of running a 40-yard dash in the 2025 Scouting Combine.

The CB/WR has demonstrated his speed on the field, but the footage released by the Jags will excite fans even more ahead of the opening game against the Cleveland Browns.

During a workout at the Jaguars’ training facility, Hunter was seen sprinting before showing off his results to the camera.

“Get that right there. What does that say? 22.6 mph… I need to run track,” said Hunter.

Fans may already have known that Hunter had some serious speed about him, but improving his top speed whilst also bulking up is a seriously impressive achievement this offseason.

According to Next Gen Stats, which began in 2016, Hunter’s recorded speed of 22.6 mph would immediately put him in the top 10 fastest NFL players on record.

It should be noted that the speed was not recorded in a game situation, but this goes to show just how fast Hunter truly is.

The fifth fastest player on Next Gen’s records is DeShaun Jackson, who also clocked a 22.6 mph top speed in 2016 against the Arizona Cardinals.

However, the measuring stick is wide receiver Hill, who recorded a staggering 23.24 mph top speed also back in 2016 for the Kansas City Chiefs against the Houston Texans.

Hunter still has some way to go if he is to claim the top spot off Hill, but his progress over the summer is certainly something to excite the fans in Jacksonville.
