How much did Arsenal receive in Europa League prize money? Many have asked after the Gunners crashed out following defeat to Sporting Lisbon.
Mikel Arteta watched his side suffer a 5-3 defeat in a penalty shootout at the Emirates Stadium on Friday evening after drawing 3-3 against the Portuguese giants across two legs.
Now, Arsenal can focus on their Premier League title race, while they have also received a nice little injection of cash despite the disappointment of losing to Sporting Lisbon.
So, how much did Arsenal receive in Europa League prize money? Let’s take a look…
How much did Arsenal receive in Europa League prize money?
Well, the north Londoners have received £4.4m in prize money from UEFA after their exit from the Europa League, earning £1.1m from reaching the Round of 16 in addition to the £3.3m won after qualifying for the Group Stage.
A document released by UEFA at the start of the 2022/23 campaign shows the breakdown of prize money – albeit not in a very clear manner – where you can see the range of rewards throughout each phase of their competitions.
The complete table of prize money for the Europa League can be seen below.
- Winner – £7.8m
- Runner-up – £4.2m
- Semi-finalist – £2.5m
- Quarter-finalist – £1.6m
- Round of 16 – £1.1m
- Knockout round play-offs – £446,000
- Group winner – £994,000
- Group runner-up – £500,000
- Group stage win – £572,000
- Group stage draw – £191,000

Of course, that is not a significant amount of money for a club as big as Arsenal.
In truth, it is only enough to pay Thomas Partey’s £200,000-a-week salary for 22 weeks.
Nevertheless, it is better than nothing.
Now, Arteta can focus all of his attention on wrestling the Premier League title away from Manchester City, as Arsenal prepare for 11 crucial games in England’s top-flight, including clashes against Liverpool, Chelsea and Pep Guardiola’s Citizens.
