Argentina stars Julian Alvarez and Emiliano Martinez have discussed their upcoming World Cup semi-final against England.
The defending champions reached the semi-final with a 3-1 win over Switzerland in extra time of the quarter-final.
While Lionel Messi was not at his best, Alexis Mac Allister, Lautaro Martinez and Alvarez scored the goals in Kansas City.
Argentina will now face England in Atlanta on Wednesday after Thomas Tuchel’s side beat Norway 2-1 in extra time.
World Cup semi-finals are always momentous occasions, but the rivalry between the two countries adds another layer.
However, Alvarez and Martinez focused on football and personal relationships in their preview of the Argentina vs England clash.

What Argentina’s players have said about facing England in the World Cup semi-final
Julian Alvarez must be full of confidence after scoring a long-range screamer in Argentina’s victory over Switzerland.
But the Atletico Madrid forward is also aware of England’s quality, including star players Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham.
“Well, they’re a very strong team,” Alvarez told reporters after Argentina’s quarter-final win in Kansas City.
“They have some great players, a lot of quality, a lot of depth. We will have to prepare well and play a great game ourselves to make it to the final.”
Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez also recognised England’s talented players, many of whom he regularly plays against.
He is particularly looking forward to playing against Aston Villa teammates Ezri Konsa and Morgan Rogers at the World Cup.
“They have a deep squad. They’re really good. I know them very well. And honestly, it’s going to be nice to play against my teammates there,” Martinez said,
Outside of the fierce rivalry between the two nations, Argentina vs England should be another thrilling World Cup clash.
