Premier League outfit Southampton will sign Fiorentina’s Serie A goalkeeper Bartlomiej Dragowski in the summer transfer window, Polish journalist Tomasz Wlodarczyk writes on his Twitter account.
As the Southampton squad embarked upon a rather awkward lap of honour following Tuesday’s 2-1 home defeat to Liverpool – their final game at St Mary’s this season – it was difficult not to wonder how many of these players would still be wearing red and white when September arrives.
The Saints’ pursuit of a new centre-half means Jan Bednarek and Jack Stephens will spend the summer glancing nervously over their shoulders.
Shane Long is out of contract too, while offers for Theo Walcott, Nathan Redmond and Moussa Djenepo will reportedly be considered.
According to The Athletic, Southampton have already informed veteran shot-stopper Fraser Forster that his deal will not be extended, despite the fact that the England international has arguably been their most consistent performer as the South Coast club once again limp over the finish line in a rather sorry state.
Hasenhuttl and co want a younger model between the sticks. And Dragowski, ten years Forster’s junior, certainly fits the bill.
Southampton to sign Bartlomiej Dragowski
“Bartek Dragowski is currently not playing. But he is to leave Fiorentina in the summer and move to another league,” confirms Poland coach Czeslaw Michniewicz.
“There, he will be the first-choice goalkeeper (at his new club).”

The Telegraph reported last week that Southampton are lining up a potential £10 million move for Dragowski, a long-term target who nearly joined the club back in 2019 after breaking a Serie A record in the colours of Empoli.

South Coast rivals Bournemouth have been linked too. But, according to Wlodarczyk, St Mary’s will be Dragowski’s destination.
“Bartlomiej Dragowski will leave Fiorentina,” writes the reporter. “He had offers from Spain, but to my knowledge he will go to the Premier League. His new club is Southampton.”
