Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Southampton want Bartlomiej Dragowski and may be able to lure the Fiorentina goalkeeper to the Premier League for a cool £10 million, as reported by The Telegraph.
If Fraser Forster is fighting for his future at St Mary’s, well he’s certainly going about things the right way.
The 34-year-old veteran looked certain to be on his way out of the South Coast club this summer.
That was, however, until a remarkable resurgence paved the way for a shock return to the England squad and had Hasenhuttl publicly expressing his desire to tie Forster down to a new deal, his current contract expiring in July.
As it stands, however, the former Celtic and Newcastle ‘keeper still has one foot out the door. Ditto Willy Cabellero.
There is a very real chance that Alex McCarthy will be the only senior shot-stopper on Southampton’s books come July 1. So no wonder a side slumping towards another botton half Premier League finish are drawing up plans to bring in a new face.
Southampton want Bartlomiej Dragowski
Enter the Dragowski.
According to The Telegraph, Southampton are weighing up a swoop for Fiorentina’s 24-year-old Poland international. With just 12 months left on his deal at the Serie A outfit, Dragowski could be available for just £10 million.
Fiorentina are unlikely to stand in his way either with coach Vincenzo Italiano restricting the former Empoli man to just seven league appearances in 2021/22.

Having slipped behind Pietro Terracciano in the Viola pecking order, talks over a contract extension have collapsed in recent weeks.
Better late than never
Interestingly, Dragowski was close to joining Southampton back in 2019. Per Alfredo Pedulla, the Saints were ‘one step away’ from signing the one-time Serie A record-breaker, only for the deal to fall through after Fiorentina pulled the plug.

Southampton are also reportedly keen on West Brom’s Sam Johnstone but he is expected to join Tottenham Hotspur instead.
The Saints missed out on Maduke Okoye too, though MLS starlet Gabriel Slonina remains an option.
