Rafa Benitez has posted on Instagram that he is ‘here at home in Liverpool’ amid recent rumours linking him with the Everton job.

The Athletic reported that the Liverpool legend is interested in taking the reigns at Everton following the surprise departure of Carlo Ancelotti this week.

Benitez is currently out of work after managing in the Chinese Super League, and most recently, being in the Premier League with Newcastle.

It would send serious shockwaves across Merseyside if Benitez does don the colours of Everton, who faltered towards the back end of this season to secure European football.

And whilst Benitez isn’t the only Liverpool legend linked with the Everton job – Steven Gerrard’s name has also cropped up – the Spaniard, in the meantime, is enjoying life on Merseyside.

Many would think that those associated with Liverpool and Everton would bat-off such thoughts of Benitez joining Everton, but not a certain Jamie Carragher.

He has backed the idea of Benitez walking the Goodison Park touchline, even though he had some pretty harsh words to say about them when he was Liverpool boss.

In truth, if Benitez had never managed Liverpool then he would be a good fit for a club like Everton, but that’s clearly not the case.

Plus, with the Wolves, Crystal Palace, Tottenham, Celtic and Everton job all still available, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Benitez end up at any one of those clubs.

With a man of his experience and trophy-winning capabilities than those clubs, aside from Everton, would be idiotic not to, at the very least, include Benitez on their list of potential targets.
