Newcastle United will have to be clever in how they conclude transfer business this summer.
Ideally, they would like free rein to show their might under their Saudi-led ownership, but of course, they are restricted to roar as loud as they want.
During the period of time Eddie Howe has been at Newcastle, the club have done very well with incomings and you can’t argue too much about their success rate.
But now the expectations are starting to rise, especially after a recent spell in the Champions League and watching other teams, such as Aston Villa, also go down that road.
Plus, the Toon Army faithful are rightfully going to expect the team to return to Europe next season after missing out during the previous campaign.
No Upcoming Fixtures
But just how far will Newcastle be able to push in the transfer market to do that? Sources have told HITC that there is interest in Everton hitman, Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Tony Cascarino thinks Calvert-Lewin, who scored seven Premier League goals during the recent campaign, is a ‘hell of a player’ and someone who could be a ‘hell of a signing’, as he told talkSPORT.
Just like a certain Callum Wilson at St James’ Park, the 27-year-old has had injury issues at Goodison Park, so if he were to come in, then he would really be a like-for-like replacement.
But it’s all about staying out of the treatment room, and if that happens, then Cascarino can see Howe getting the best out of him.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin at Newcastle United
“Well, his actual goal record isn’t that bad over the time he has played for Everton,” said Cascarino. “His numbers in recent years haven’t been particularly good. I think last year was seven Premier League goals.
“He has been blighted by injuries for so long. Calvert-Lewin at his best is a hell of a player and probably one of the best aerial players in the Premier League. He’s fantastic at getting up, leap, headers and powerful.
“But he has to stay fit. Can Eddie Howe keep him fit? Whether Eddie thinks he can solve that problem at Calvert-Lewin’s best, then he is a hell of a signing. He is in the last year of his contract, isn’t he? That’s probably why they are getting together.”

Newcastle United next season
Expectations are now rising at St James’ Park and there was huge disappointment with how the season panned out.
Yes, the constant injuries didn’t help matters, but it became so bad that you probably have to question the medical department.

This simply won’t be used as an excuse next season and the target will be to get back in Europe.
Of course, fans would take a trophy over anything else because they have been craving for that moment for decades now, but a top-six finish is also a must.
