Aston Villa have been warned about their latest transfer target as they continue their summer spending spree.
After completing the £50million signing of Amadou Onana yesterday, Aston Villa have now brought in eight new signings this summer.
With a Champions League campaign on the horizon, Unai Emery‘s side have wasted no time strengthening their ranks ready for their European venture.
But the spending could yet continue at Villa Park with the club now linked with a move for Atletico Madrid ace Joao Felix.
According to The Guardian, Villa have made the 24-year-old forward a summer target after completing the sale of Moussa Diaby to the Saudi Pro League.
However, Villa have been offered some words of warning by former Liverpool player and pundit Steve Nicol.

Spanish outlet Marca report that Atletico would be willing to part ways with Felix for 60million Euros (£50million) this summer.
Nicol warned Aston Villa that the Portuguese star is the kind of player who can get coaches sacked.
Speaking on ESPN, he said “Is he as good as we think he’s supposed to be? No. There are players that get coaches sacked, and he falls into that category.
“He is a guy that will show flashes of absolute genius and have a couple of games where he is fantastic, then he disappears.”
“He has ability that 80 percent of players on the planet don’t have but, unfortunately, he doesn’t know how to use it consistently.”
Felix’s potential is out of the question, he won the Golden Boy award in 2019 and completed a £114million move to Atletico Madrid after impressing at Benfica.

But he has struggled to settle in Madrid, Barcelona and during his loan spell at Chelsea. Now, Atletico Madrid’s president has addressed his future at the club.
There is still plenty of potential to unlock in Felix if Emery plays his cards right, but as Nicol says, it would be a huge risk if Villa splash the cash on him this summer.
