Jose Enrique says Antonio Conte ‘can’t complain’ at the transfer spend of Tottenham Hotspur, compared to rivals Arsenal, following their defeat in the north London derby, as he posted on his Instagram story.
Over the weekend, Arsenal won the bragging rights of north London when Mikel Arteta’s men turned up to their neighbours’ backyard and secured all three points.
Only six or so months ago, Arsenal were capitulating against the very same opponent, at the very same ground and, as a result, losing out on Champions League football.

But, since then, it has been chalk and cheese between the two, with Arsenal sitting at the top of the Premier League table and eight points clear of second-placed Manchester City.
It’s not just the results which are a big difference, but also the performances and style of play, something which has been a hot topic amongst Spurs supporters with Conte.
Nonetheless, when Sky put up a graphic of Tottenham and Arsenal’s spending since May 2022, this was the response of former Liverpool left-back, Jose Enrique.
“He can’t complain about the money, Conte and (how) he needs more money,” said Enrique. “It’s no excuse for how Tottenham is playing in the first half of every single game.”
KICK IN THE TEETH FOR TOTTENHAM
It needs to be highlighted that Arteta has been backed during previous transfer windows, so it’s not like he has waved some sort of magic wand at the Emirates Stadium.
But, one thing he has done is improve the players currently at the club, including academy product Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, who was brought in as an unknown teenager before Arteta’s arrival.
Therefore, the question is being asked, which players have improved under Conte? Because, in comparison to Jose Mourinho’s reign, there doesn’t seem to be much difference in what is happening at Hotspur Way.
It doesn’t help matters that Arsenal are sitting top and playing like they are because it’s a kick in the teeth for their north London rivals.
