Harry Redknapp has claimed that Tottenham bringing back Mauricio Pochettino would have ‘appeased’ the supporters, as he told his own podcast.
The former Premier League boss shared how it was ‘strange’ that Tottenham were seemingly looking to bring him back to North London.
Despite Pochettino’s name popping up several times, they instead opted to bring in the coaching talents of Nuno Espirito Santo.
And even though it took Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici over two months to pull Nuno’s name out of a hat, it did result in a mixed reaction from supporters.
Redknapp knows what it’s like trying to warm the Tottenham hot seat, as he shared that the ‘popular’ Pochettino would have been a crowd-pleasing appointment.
“That’s why I thought the Pochettino one, even that was a strange one,” said Redknapp. “They sacked him to (potentially) bring him back again.
“But it would have appeased the fans. I mean, they would have liked that because he was a popular guy.”

Even though Pochettino’s name was touted as possibly returning, those in the Spurs boardroom were living in cloud cuckoo land if they thought they could lure the 49-year-old away from PSG.
Pochettino may have lost the Ligue 1 title to Lille last season, but with the oil-rich French club looking for that all-important Champions League trophy.
Why would he swap it for competing in the newly-formed Europa Conference League?
Plus, who is to say that things have changed if Pochettino did return because Harry Kane seemingly wants out and they have gone backwards since they sacked him.
