Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane says he is ‘enjoying’ the Premier League after he was asked by Tim Sherwood if he will be around to break Alan Shearer’s goalscoring record, as he told PL Productions (23/01/23 at 10:40 pm).

The 29-year-old hit Premier League goal number 199 on Monday night as Antonio Conte’s Tottenham recorded a much-needed 1-0 win at Fulham.

Give it a few more seasons and a new name will be top of the goalscoring tree when it comes to Premier League players post-1992.

Of course, that’s a sight Shearer, who scored 260 PL goals, doesn’t want to see, but will Kane be around to do it? There have been suggestions that Bayern Munich want to sign the England captain.

Kane has less than 18 months left on his current deal, he either signs a new contract or looks to leave in the summer. To perhaps the surprise of Spurs fans, there is talk that he is ‘open’ to a new deal.

Nonetheless, Kane issued the following response to Tim Sherwood’s ‘loaded question’ regarding Alan Shearer’s record and the striker’s future.

“Listen, we all want you in here, everyone wants you to break Shearer’s record, are you going to be around in the Premier League to do that?” asked Tim Sherwood.

Kane responded: “That’s a loaded question. Let’s see what happens. I am enjoying myself. I am enjoying the season I am having. I feel like it was an important win, let’s see. I am enjoying the Premier League.”

KANE SHOULD LEAVE

Tottenham fans won’t like to hear it, but it’s time the England captain tried a new challenge and made something of his goal-crazy career.

Records are all great, but they are all there to be broken, just like he is going to do with Jimmy Greaves’ all-time Tottenham record, England’s top-goalscorer record and Alan Shearer’s record.

That can be taken away from you, but winning silverware can’t.

The issue with Spurs is those upstairs and how they haven’t made full use of having two trophy-laden coaches – Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte – in their dugout, with serious questions needing to be asked of Daniel Levy and Co.
