Gary Lineker has posted a tweet about Arsenal after Mykhaylo Mudryk made his debut for Chelsea earlier today.
What’s the story?
Well, the Ukraine international made his first appearance for the Blues following an £88.5m move from Shakhtar Donetsk – Arsenal wanted to sign him, but saw their deal hijacked by the west Londoners.
Chelsea also beat Arsenal to the signing of Joao Felix – it was David Ornstein, a very reliable source of information, who claimed that Mikel Arteta wanted the Portugal international.
Lineker seemingly referenced Chelsea pinching Arsenal’s transfer targets from out of the blue after Mudryk came on in the 55th minute at Anfield, adding that the 22-year-old was “making an impact” on Merseyside.

Clearly, Lineker feels Chelsea are copying what Arsenal want to do in the transfer market with his tongue in cheek remark.
In our view, Arteta will be furious about missing out on Mudryk, especially after seeing what the Ukrainian wonderkid did against Liverpool earlier today.
Arsenal will envy Chelsea for pinching Mudryk
Mudryk may only have played 35 minutes of the 0-0 draw at Anfield earlier today, but he set the game alight with his exceptional talent.
The Chelsea No.15 embarked on two successful dribbles – one of which almost led to a goal as he waltzed into the box and hit the side netting – while also winning one freekick, as WhoScored shows.
Impressively, Mudryk also showcased his industrial side with three tackles to his name – only Jorginho and Marc Cucurella complete more from the Chelsea players involved, and they actually played the entire 90 minutes.
It was a fantastic first impression from the youngster, and if he continues to play like that in English football, Arteta will have sleepless nights about missing out.
