Leeds United fans expect their side to go on and achieve promotion to the Premier League.

Whites boss Garry Monk spoke to the media during his pre-match press conference, and explained how his Leeds side still have a long way to go before they fulfil their potential, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The West Yorkshire outfit have impressed so far this season, and far exceeded expectations, after making an underwhelming start to life under Monk.

They took just one point from their opening three Championship outings, but have been in superb form since then, and now sit comfortably inside the promotion play-off spots.

And Monk was asked by reporters how far he believes his side have come since the end of last year, when he suggested they had only reached a tenth of their potential, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post:

“We are on one and a half now. It’s very hard to put time-scales on these things because potential, for me, is immeasurable. It’s down to the desire of the player, the desire of his work on and off the pitch and obviously the information and the training that is given to them to help them do it.”

Although automatic promotion seems unlikely at the moment, if they can string together a lengthy run of victories, and put pressure on Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion, then who knows what they can achieve.

And with 15 games still to go, there is plenty of time left for Monk’s men to make a charge for the top two spots.
