Whites boss Garry Monk spoke to reporters during his pre-match conference, ahead of his side’s game at home to Cardiff City on Saturday, and praised striker Chris Wood for his red-hot displays of late, but urged the New Zealand international to remain focused, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The 25-year-old has been a driving force behind Leeds’ superb campaign so far, and he has been one of the most important players for Monk, helping fire his side into the play-off spots.

The West Yorkshire outfit currently occupy fifth position in the league table, and a place in the play-off spots seems like a formality, with a seven point lead over seventh placed Norwich City, and a seven point deficit to make up on second placed Brighton & Hove Albion.
And Monk spoke about the importance of Wood keeping up his impressive form, if Leeds are to have a genuine chance of securing promotion to the Premier League, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post:

Wood has scored 18 goals in 29 Championship appearances for Leeds so far this term.
And his superb form this season has obviously not gone unnoticed, with Premier League side West Ham United being linked with a £15 million move for the striker during the January transfer window (ESPN).
