Taylor has been absent since before Christmas due to injury.

Leeds United manager Garry Monk has revealed that inured star Charlie Taylor should be working his way back to fitness over the next fortnight, as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Taylor has not played for the Whites since the 1-0 win over Brentford on 17 December after suffering an Achilles injury.

The left-back is one of the top talents at Elland Road and his future has been the subject of persistent speculation over the last 12 months.

The irony is that not only have Leeds coped fine without Taylor, but the fact that he spent the entirety of January on the sidelines surely made it considerably easier for the club to fight off any interested parties.

However, such is the quality and potential that Taylor has that his return will undoubtedly be a big boost for Leeds, even though it has not always been that noticeable thanks to the club’s good form.

Now, Monk has delivered a key update on his star’s future, suggesting that within a 10- to 14-day time period the left-back should be back in full training and pushing to be in contention to play again.

Monk said, via the Yorkshire Evening Post: “We’re hopeful that in the next 10 to 14 days he’ll be back out on the training pitch. Time’s the healer.

“That’s the unfortunate thing with his injury. With a lot of other injuries you get a proper timescale and it generally goes to that schedule. He’s progressed very well and he’s not far away but we’re thinking he’ll be another 10 to 14 days.

“We’re lucky with Charlie because he’s such a natural athlete and it’s not going to take him long to get back up to speed. But he’ll need some work when he does comes back.”

Taylor has missed Leeds’ last nine games, with Gaetano Berardi, generally a central defender, filling in on the left-hand side.

Though Berardi has largely coped well, Whites fans will be keen to see Taylor back on the pitch as the club look to secure a highly-ranked play-off spot at the very least.
