Newcastle United missed out on a plethora of signings this summer as Eddie Howe’s side were left frustrated in the summer transfer window.
Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United made just one senior signing in the form of Odysseas Vlachodimos as the Magpies were criticised for their lack of summer business under new sporting director Paul Mitchell.
Newcastle made several attempts to land Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi but Steve Parish was not willing to sell the English defender and the Eagles even upped their price for the former Chelsea ace to £75 million.
Howe’s side had made four offers with the last being £70 million but the club could not get the deal over the line.

Mario Kempes believes Nico Gonzalez made right decision moving to Juventus
Another player who HITC reported that Newcastle were keen on is Fiorentina’s Nico Gonzalez, who completed a move to Juventus this summer.
Sources have told HITC that Fiorentina had agreed to a loan move with an obligation to buy inserted which has allowed Juve to pursue a deal and agree terms with Gonzalez.
Newcastle wanted a new winger with Pedro Neto also a previous target but the Portuguese ace moved to Chelsea this summer.
Speaking to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Argentine footballing legend Mario Kempes believes that Gonzalez made the right decision to move to Turin.
“He too will now have more space with Argentina since Di Maria is no longer there: it was not easy to find a place having a champion like that in front of you,” Kempes said about Gonzalez for Argentina’s national team.
“Nico has arrived at the perfect moment in his career to make the last leap. It will be a good Argentine Inter-Juve challenge with him and Lautaro.”
Newcastle’s summer of struggles under Eddie Howe
Since being appointed as manager of Newcastle, Howe has, for the most part, gotten all of the transfer targets that he has wanted at St James’ Park.
However, this summer was a very frustrating one for the club as they missed out on Guehi, Gonzalez and Tosin Adarabioyo, who joined Chelsea on a free transfer.
Despite the struggles in the transfer market, Howe’s Newcastle have taken seven points from nine and are unbeaten this season, which really shows the level of manager that the Magpies have at the helm.
