- EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey.
Newcastle United have had multiple bids rejected by Crystal Palace for Marc Guehi and they have now sent one final message to the Eagles on deadline day.
It looks likely that Newcastle United will miss out on Marc Guehi after failing to meet Crystal Palace‘s valuation of the England international.
HITC revealed on Thursday that Palace chairman Steve Parish upped the price tag of Marc Guehi to £75m for the final hours of the window.
HITC understands that Newcastle have now told Crystal Palace they won’t be returning with an improved bid on deadline day.
Sources have said that Newcastle now expect to end the summer transfer window without signing another defender, despite reaching a broad agreement on terms with Malick Thiaw.
Guehi is now set to stay put at Selhurst Park, much to the delight of manager Oliver Glasner.

Crystal Palace keep hold of Marc Guehi
Guehi has been a key performer for Glasner since the Austrian was appointed manager last season.
Guehi has been handed the captain’s armband this season and is now set to stay with the London outfit.
Glasner, speaking in his press conference on deadline day, has confirmed that Guehi will stay at Palace after Newcastle’s bids were rejected.
Glasner also congratulated the Palace chairman Steve Parish for “not giving in” and selling Guehi despite the huge offer presented to the club.
Crystal Palace are also set to add to their defensive department with HITC confirming that they have finalised their move for Maxence Lacroix from Wolfsburg.
Newcastle United want deadline day deal
Despite missing out on Guehi, Newcastle are still hopeful of completing a new signing on deadline day – although it won’t be a defender.

HITC can confirm that Newcastle are in talks to bring a new right winger into the club before the 11pm deadline.
Newcastle have monitored a number of winger targets this summer and they are now looking to get a deal over the line having saved a huge portion of their budget by not signing Guehi.
