HITC understands that Newcastle United have suffered a blow in the race for winger Nico Gonzalez this summer.

We have previously reported that Newcastle United are keen on adding a winger this summer with Jarrod Bowen and Pedro Neto some of the names on their list.

However, Wolves winger Neto is closing in on a move to Chelsea and Bowen looks set to stay at West Ham United this summer.

Another target for Newcastle is Fiorentina winger Nico Gonzalez who looks set to leave the Serie A side this summer but the Magpies have suffered a big blow in their hopes of landing the Argentine.

Nico Gonzalez agrees move to Juventus

Sources have told HITC that the Argentine winger Gonzalez has agreed to move to Juventus this summer in what is a big blow for Eddie Howe’s side.

Juventus are struggling to find funds for deals that have seen moves for Jean-Clair Todibo and Teun Koopmeiners stall.

Sources have told HITC that Todibo has agreed to join West Ham United and is closing in on becoming a new Hammers player after it seemed like the Italian side were set to win the race for the French defender.

Another player they missed out on is Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori with it looking like earlier in the summer that the Italian giants were going to sign the defender.

However, Arsenal confirmed a deal for Calafiori last month but it appears Juventus will finally enact some revenge on these Premier League sides with a deal for Gonzalez.

Juventus expected to conclude deal for Gonzalez this weekend

Sources have told HITC that Fiorentina have agreed to a loan move with an obligation to buy inserted which has allowed Juve to pursue a deal and agree terms with Gonzalez.

There is also still the possibility that Juve could send players the other way as part of the deal, but they are expecting to conclude a deal over the weekend.

A host of clubs are understood to have spoken to Gonzalez, including Newcastle, but the Argentine now looks set to stay in Serie A.

Gonzalez impressed during the 2022 FIFA World Cup with manager Lionel Scaloni claiming to SportsKeeda that he ‘brings the team a lot’ when he is on the pitch.

Gonzalez has also been compared to Bernardo Silva but it appears Newcastle are set to miss out.
