This Conor Gallagher talk won’t go away, with Tottenham Hotspur one of many Premier League clubs keen to bring the Chelsea man on board.
Regardless of Gallagher’s situation at Chelsea, there is interest from Spurs, who are looking to bolster their squad ahead of the new Premier League season.
Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham have already secured the transfer of Archie Gray – he can also operate at right-back.
But with the London club returning to Europe, you feel more numbers and faces are needed because they struggled big time last season when they suffered injuries.
Plus, you don’t know the fate of certain players from within the squad, including Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg ‘not being satisfied’ under Postecoglou.
At least one more midfielder needs to come in, and despite talk of Tottenham wanting Gallagher, they should look elsewhere for a far better and perhaps financially rewarding option.
Rather than focus their attention close to home in the capital, how about looking across the Midlands for that new lease of life?!
Tottenham Hotspur should sign Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes
A player with a great tactical brain and an all-round ability in the middle of the park, Joao Gomes has made huge progress during these past 18 months.
During the January transfer window of 2023, Wolves paid Brazil giants Flamengo £15 million (The Athletic) for the midfielder and he has gone from strength to strength since.
Gomes prefers to play bang in the middle, but he can operate deeper if need be and he does have the quick feet to play as a ten.

Joao Gomes compared to Conor Gallagher
Chelsea’s sought-after star played 50 matches in all competitions last term, scoring seven goals and supplying nine assists.
In comparison, Gomes, whose team finished in the bottom half, played 38 matches, scoring two goals and supplying one assist.
From a technical standpoint, Gomes is far better, he can help dictate the game better, build out from the back and carry the ball forward.

Gallagher is better if he is pushed forward, he can win the ball back and make late runs into the box to score those crucial goals.
But Tottenham need more of a cool head in midfield now, consistency and someone who can help them dominate the ball in the biggest of matches.
Gomes does that in bucket loads, so Spurs shouldn’t hesitate to knock on Wolves’ door to sign the Brazil international.
