Brentford put up a post showing love to Jordan Henderson after he and England got knocked out of the FIFA World Cup.

No one who is a fan of England is happy today, after seeing Argentina knock them out of the FIFA World Cup just one game away from the final.

But Brentford FC find themselves being the butt of the joke on social media, after trying to send a tribute post for Jordan Henderson.

Fans question Brentford for saying Jordan Henderson ‘gave it his all’ for England

Brentford’s social media team posted a tribute for Jordan Henderson after England’s loss to Argentina, saying that he gave it his all.

Some fans were confused by this, given that Henderson only played six minutes in England’s World Cup game against Panama before injuring himself while celebrating their winner against Mexico.

One fan wrote, “Only time he gave it his all was jumping over that board…”

Another fan cleverly mocked Henderson’s injury with a pun, noting, “You’re so right, he really went out on a limb for the country…”

“Possibly the funniest tweet an official club has ever made,” joked a third fan when responding to Brentford’s post.

While a fourth fan slammed Henderson’s injury against Mexico, saying, “All he gave was his arm.”

And one final fan compared Brentford’s post to Chelsea’s now-deleted tribute to Enzo Fernandez’s goal, writing, “Worse than the Enzo post in my honest opinion!”

Jordan Henderson no longer an England fixture like he was in the past

Henderson is now 36 years old and not the player he once was in his physical prime. The former Liverpool star has represented England in the past, even as their captain in certain games.

Henderson was a crucial figure in England’s 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign, helping lead them to the semi-final, where they lost to Croatia.

There is no denying how important Henderson was to England when he was at his best, helping usher in a new era of success for the team.

But his lack of minutes at the tournament came as no surprise, as the Brentford midfielder can provide stability and experience, but not the star quality and high effort that a young team like England need.
