After Argentina bested England, their players got hold of Jordan Pickford’s water bottle, which had notes on which direction every player would take a penalty.
Pickford was by far one of England’s best players in their heartbreaking 2-1 loss to Argentina, coming up with crucial saves as he tried to keep the reigning world champions at bay.
While the Everton goalkeeper wasn’t able to stop them from conceding twice in the space of 10 minutes, he was prepared to take the game to penalties.

Lionel Messi and Argentina players couldn’t help but laugh after seeing Jordan Pickford’s penalty notes
After the game, an Argentinian coach seemingly got his hands on Jordan Pickford’s water bottle, which had notes on how each player would take a penalty.
He quickly showed it to some Argentine players, including Nico Gonzales and Lionel Messi. Messi seemingly was fighting back a smile, suggesting that he found the notes inaccurate.
Perhaps Pickford’s notes would have helped him save a penalty against Lionel Messi and Argentina at some point during the game.
However, given the fact that Messi has failed to convert his two penalties at the FIFA World Cup, he wouldn’t have had to work too hard for it.
But it is clear that the Argentine players didn’t believe Pickford’s notes were correct, as they were seen chuckling after the game.
Argentina must now prepare for their toughest battle in FIFA World Cup final
Heading into the FIFA World Cup final as reigning world champions, Argentina will now have to face their toughest opponents yet in Spain.
Spain were considered one of the favourites to win the tournament early on, but few had put them above other contenders like France, England, and even Argentina.
However, this Spanish side has played some excellent, albeit pragmatic football, en route to the FIFA World Cup final, thriving greatly due to their defensive stability and midfield dominance.
If Argentina are to lift the World Cup trophy for a second time in a row, they will have to try and penetrate what has been a seemingly impregnable Spanish defence that has conceded only one goal all tournament.
But this is the pressure that comes with the territory of being world champions. To be the best, they must beat the best, and that is exactly the task at hand for Argentina come Sunday.
