The 2026 World Cup final is set to take place at the New York New Jersey Stadium on Sunday, July 19.
It caps off an exciting summer of soccer in North America, but one England fan is not too happy that he is now on his way to New York ahead of the showpiece.
The Three Lions played their World Cup semi-final against Argentina on Wednesday, and one supporter jumped the gun when it came to booking a flight out to America to watch his team compete.

England fan can’t cancel flight to New York ahead of World Cup final
England opened the scoring in Atlanta in the 55th minute thanks to Anthony Gordon.
This gave fans hope their team would be playing Spain in the final later this week, and even saw England supporter Rory Jennings book a flight to New York mid-match.
However, Argentina fought back to win 2-1, and Jennings has now revealed that he tried to cancel his flight after booking it mid-game on July 15.
But he will not get his money back and is now stuck with a flight to New York.
In a video shared by The Club’s X/Twitter page, he said: “Departing from Heathrow on Saturday, landing at John F. Kennedy 11:30, coming home Tuesday 21.
“Do you know why I was quiet then? Because I was trying to see if I could get the money back, which I can’t.
“It’s terrible, it’s not even funny.”
He was also asked how much he paid for the flight, and while an exact figure was not given, he said: “It wasn’t cheap.”
At the time of writing, the cheapest flights we can find to leave Heathrow on Saturday for JFK are $1,037.
