The transfer window may be closed in England but Premier League teams are still at risk of losing players, as West Ham United know with Emerson Palmieri linked with a move away.

Though deadline day came and went on August 30 for Premier League clubs, some transfer windows around the world remain open.

Of the national leagues that would be able to attract and afford stars from the English top flight, only the Turkish transfer window is still in business and it doesn’t close until Friday, September 13.

Turkish sides are looking to take advantage of their position, with Fenerbahce attempting to sign Kieran Trippier and Galatasaray attempting to bring in Carney Chukwuemeka on loan from Chelsea.

It’s not the only move Galatasaray are trying to make, either, as they have been touted with a move for West Ham defender Emerson Palmieri.

However, Fabrizio Romano has poured cold water on the speculation after revealing Emerson’s stance on the move.

Emerson is ‘happy’ at West Ham

Turkish publication Sabah reported on Tuesday that Galatasaray wanted to bring in Emerson before their window closed.

The club are said to have turned their attention to the Brazilian after they failed in their move for top left-back target Lucas Digne of Aston Villa.

Despite Villa bringing in Ian Maatsen for £37.5m from Chelsea this summer, Digne is holding down his spot in the side and had no interest in a move to Turkey.

Unfortunately for Galatasaray, it appears they have hit a similar stumbling block in their pursuit of Emerson after Romano’s latest update.

The journalist took to X, formerly Twitter, to report: “Despite links with Turkish clubs, Emerson Palmieri has no interest in leaving West Ham.

“He’s staying at #WHUFC, very happy there.”

West Ham would have been foolish to sell Emerson

It’s great for West Ham that Emerson is committed to the club and isn’t actively seeking a move, as it could have made keeping him much tougher, even when they have no choice but to do so.

Given West Ham’s current squad, they’d have been incredibly foolish to sell Emerson now.

Julen Lopetegui no longer has the chance to bring in a suitable replacement now the window in England has closed, with clubs unable to sign players again until January.

West Ham are also perilously short on left-back options with only 34-year-old Aaron Cresswell as backup to Emerson.

Though Galatasaray got incredibly lucky with the signing of Victor Osimhen this summer, it looks like their fortune is drying up in their chase for a new left-back.
