Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Norwich’s game against West Ham, Dean Smith has addressed Max Aarons’ future amid links to both Newcastle and Everton.

Aarons has been a sought-after player for years at this point with everyone from Bayern Munich to Tottenham Hotspur linked with the Englishman over the years.

However, in terms of a move this January, the two teams that have been most strongly linked are Newcastle and Everton – but it seems as though neither club will be landing Aarons.

What’s Smith said about Aarons?

The Norwich boss addressed a question about the full-back’s future.

“No, Max Aarons is closing in on his 150th appearance for the football club, he’s an integral part of the squad and one who has been playing well since I’ve come to the club, so, you know, I expect him to stay,” Smith said.

Holding firm

Norwich seem to be holding firm on their stance with Aarons, and it looks as though Everton and Newcastle have both been made well aware that he won’t be allowed to leave.

It may not be a coincidence that the Toffees and the Magpies have already signed alternative options at right-back, with Kieran Trippier and Nathan Patterson both arriving already this month.

Aarons is seemingly set to stay at Norwich for the remainder of the season, and it remains to be seen whether or not he ends up with another relegation on his CV.

If Norwich do go down, don’t be surprised to see the rumour mill start up again regarding Aarons.
