Newcastle United have discussed making a move for Norwich City right back Max Aarons as they target defensive additions this month.
The Telegraph claim that Aarons has been spoken about as a potential signing at Newcastle this month.
Aarons predominantly plays as a right back, though his ability to play on the left side has been noted at Newcastle.
Newcastle signed Jamal Lewis from Norwich City in 2020 to try and solve that position, but Aarons could end up there.
Norwich surely wouldn’t want to sell Aarons though. They’re in a relegation battle of their own and losing him wouldn’t exactly encourage a great escape.
Added to that is the fact that Newcastle are one of Norwich’s main rivals at the bottom. Selling Aarons to the Magpies would be akin to waving the white flag.
Aarons, 22, has long been backed for stardom having shown potential as a quick and attack-minded right back.

Branded ‘outstanding’ by Daniel Farke, Aarons looked like being an England international but has now stalled a little.
Newcastle could offer him a change of scenery, but a move for another English right back seems odd.
AS report that Atletico Madrid star Kieran Trippier is set to travel to England to join Newcastle in a matter of hours.
Surely Newcastle won’t go for another right back with Trippier set to come in, unless they truly do see Aarons as a left back.
