Everton missed out on Mohammed Kudus and the Ajax talent showed off his quality with a superb goal against Rangers on Wednesday night.

The Toffees made a few late moves to bolster Frank Lampard’s squad at Goodison Park.

Forward Neal Maupay arrived from Brighton and Hove Albion whilst two midfielders came in as well.

Idrissa Gueye re-joined from Paris Saint-Germain and James Garner has come in from Manchester United.

Neither are particularly attacking though and Everton did also go in for a more creative midfielder in Ajax’s Kudus.

Everton missed out on Mohammed Kudus

Everton thought they were on the verge of signing Kudus on loan with a view to a permanent deal, but the move stalled.

Ajax didn’t want to lose both Kudus and Antony in the same transfer window, and when the Brazilian made his move to Manchester United, the Toffees missed out.

Kudus really wanted to join Everton before the deadline and even missed training to try and force through a move, but a late £15million bid was rejected.

Ajax believe they can make even more money on Kudus down the line and he has now shown exactly why.

Kudus started as a false nine for Ajax against Rangers on Wednesday night and was simply sensational.

Kudus was silky on the ball and when a chance came to score, he took it.

Holding off James Tavernier down the Ajax left, Kudus just kept running forward before smashing a left-footed strike into the top corner from a relatively right angle.

Ajax Showtime called the goal ‘almost impossible’ with Kudus playing a key part in Ajax’s 4-0 thrashing of the Gers.

Kudus finished his night with a goal, an assist, five successful dribbles and one key pass in a superb performance.

Everton will really wish they had managed to sign the 22-year-old, and may even fear that their chance to sign him has now gone.
